A simple visualization exercise using a candle flame
Visualization takes a lot of practice if you are to achieve the end result.
A simple way to start working with visualization is to find a quiet moment when you will not be disturbed.
Relax your mind using basic meditation techniques explained in So why do we Meditate.
Pay attention to the flame and watch how it flickers and moves and focus your attention upon it for a couple of minutes.
Now close your eyes and the image of the flame should still be in your mind’s eye.
Try and remain focussed on the image as long as you can.
If you lose the image, simply open your eyes and gaze at the flame until you are able to close your eyes and still hold the image with you.
The more you practice – the longer you should be able to keep the image after your eyes have been closed
